net loss, I think

So I ditched Peter because I decided he was a creep. He was kinda rude and he couldn't talk about anything but sex. Screw that.

Then I went on two other Craigslist dates last weekend. They were nice but kind of forgettable. Either guy - if I see him again, sure, if not, that's fine too. It might be a function of not knowing them at all.

At first I was very excited about like, getting out there and making an effort and that sort of shit. As Melinda reminded me, it's a numbers game. I'm not going to meet a guy I like if I never meet any guys at all, so get started.

This is still true but now I'm looking back at the past couple of weeks and thinking...well, aside from this theoretical benefit I wasted a lot of time. Setting up and going on these dates is very time consuming. If I try to keep this up, because it's a numbers game, I'm going to lose what little free time I have left in my life.

Saturday was better than today. The guy was very gentlemanly and easy to talk to. He seemed sweet. Maybe too sweet, but who knows. He was handsome, too, though in a more conventional way than I generally like.

Today - again, an easy conversation and nice guy, but we disagreed about just about everything. I like a spirited conversation but it was a little wearing. He was less attractive, but not at all ugly.

Saturday guy arranged to meet at a place that would be convenient for both of us. Sunday guy arranged to meet at a place very far away from my place, and very close to his. I thought that was kind of rude. I mean, I split the bills so if there's anything left of chivalry you think it would be to save a girl a few minutes on the subway.

They're both great catches in an objective sense. But probably for someone else.
